Herbal Remedies: Ginger for Cold, Cough, Weakness and Stomach Diseases

Share/Save/Email/Print this page

Ginger has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for over thousands of years for treating cold, cough, weakness and stomach diseases.

Ginger is also mentioned in the Koran, the holy book of the Moslems, indicating it was known in Arab countries as far back as 650 A.D. It was one of the earliest spice known in Western Europe, used since the ninth century.

A drink made with sliced ginger cooked in water with green onion roots and brown sugar is one of Chinese home remedies for cold and cough.

Three to four leaves of tulsi taken with a piece of ginger on an empty stomach is considered an effective cure for congestion, cough and cold.

In several studies, ginger worked just as well on morning sickness as the motion sickness drug marketed as Dramamine - without the drowsiness. Take 1,000 mg daily for a few days.

Ginger is a great remedy against nausea, vomiting, cold and cough. Just cut a fresh ginger into slices, keep in a freezer with a plastic bag, then you can have fresh ginger to use at anytime.

Natural medicine sees the value of stopping disease, in comparison to reacting to it.
