Does almond boost sex drive and help the men and women who have low libido problem? According to Ayurveda, almond is cooling, sattvic and ojas building. It can help produce semen and reproductive fluids. In ayurvedic medical system, ojas is the essence in body. Semen is pure ojas. The body transforms food into ojas through digestion and metabolism. Ayurveda believes that the following foods increase ojas, therefore feed the genital organs: ghee, rice, milk, sugar, almonds, and raisins. Ayurveda recommends to consume 10 soaked and peeled almonds a day to build ojas. Especially, after ejaculation, men should drink almond milk with dates and saffron to rebuild fluids.
Scientific studies have found that almonds are a rich source of vitamin E, and contain many other nutritional elements. Eating a few almonds daily can reduce heart disease risks, relieve constipation, and is good for skin. But so far, there is no scientific study that has proven that almond has the effect of increasing sex drive.
Other traditional medical systems have not mentioned that almond has the effect of increasing libido either. In traditional Chinese medicine, almond has been used for thousands of years. According to traditional Chinese medicine texts, almond has acrid, bitter and sweet tastes. It is a warming, downwarding, and moisturizing herb. It affects lungs and large intestine, and it can be used to treat cough, asthma, constipation and skin disorders. These effects have been proven by modern studies.
Anyway, regarding whether almond affects genital organs, and whether almond is an aphrodisiac, it still needs more studies.
