Marshmallow and slippery elm both have effects to soothe a sore throat. You can use them to make homemade throat-soothing lozenges or syrup.

Formula:

– Marshmallow root powder 100g
– Slippery elm bark powder 100g

How to make throat-soothing lozenges:

– Mix the two powders well
– Put 2/3 powder into a bowl, leave 1/3 powder for later use
– Add some honey to the bowl, stirring until having a thick paste
– Roll the paste into small balls
– Roll the balls in the 1/3 dry powder
– Set the oven to about 200 degrees Fahrenheit or 100 degrees Celsius
– Place the balls on a baking sheet
– After the oven is pre-heated, place the sheet of balls into the oven for drying. Watch them carefully
– Store the balls in a tightly-closed container
– Consume a ball when you need to soothe a sore throat

How to make a throat-soothing syrup:

– Put the two powders in a pot with a cup of water
– Bring to a boil, then simmer for 15 minutes
– Strain, and add honey (or sugar) to make a syrup
– Store the syrup in a bottle
– Consume a teaspoon when you need to soothe a sore throat
