Danggui Longhui Wan (Danggui Longhui Pills, 当归龙荟丸) is a Chinese Medicine for cleansing liver / gallbladder fire (heat, inflammation), and the related symptoms, such as dysphoria, dizziness, convulsions, tinnitus, side chest pain, abdominal pain and constipation due to the overheating (hyperfunctioning, inflammative) liver and gallbladder.

Here is the formula of Danggui Longhui Pills:

angelica (dang gui) 30 g,
gentian 30 g,
aloe vera 15 g,
gardenia 30 g,
berberine 30 g,
cortex phellodendri 30 g,
scutellaria 30 g,
indigo naturalis 15 g,
rhubarb 15 g,
saussurea 0.3 g,
musk 1.5 g.

According to traditional Chinese medical theory, the above “windy” symptoms (”shaking” and “restless”) - dizziness, dysphoria, convulsions, tinnitus, delirium, and anxiety are caused by internal wind which related to liver diseases. The internal wind in the channels of the body can be enhanced by fire but can be inhibited and reduced by fluid (water, blood). So the above formula uses angelica (dang gui) to generate blood for inhibiting internal wind, and uses aloe vera and other cooling herbs to reduce live and gallbladder fire.

This medicine should not be used for patients without liver and gallbladder fire, nor for ones with weak stomach and spleen, underlying weakness.

I have grown aloe vera in my home for many years. I did not know it can be used for treating liver disease. Thanks for the post.
