Mung Bean Licorice Soup (lv dou gan cao tang, 绿豆甘草汤) is said to treat food and herb poisoning (such as mushroom, aconite, or croton poisoning), drug poisoning (such as Phenytoin, or chlordiazepoxide poisoning), pesticide and chemical poisoning (such as lead, Organophosphate or Dichlorvos poisoning), and toxic hepatitis.

Mung Bean Licorice Soup is a formula of traditional Chinese medicine. It is still widely used by village doctors in China’s rural communities to treat poisoning in humans and animals.

Ingredients and Directions

– Mung beans 90g
– Licorice 20g
– Make a decoction, drink it twice a day.

The formula can be vary in the amount of mung bean and licorice. Some doctors use mung bean 120g and licorice 15g. For treating pigs, it can be mung bean 1000g and licorice 300g. It depends on the type of poisoning, doctor’s experience, patient’s weight and conditions.
