Almond has numerous health benefits. Eating a handful of almonds a day, or using products that are made out of almonds, such as almond butter, paste, milk and oil, can regulate cholesterol levels, blood sugar, and weight.

Almonds are rich in vitamin E, they are also a good source of riboflavin, Iron and Magnesium. Because they have higher monounsaturated fats they may help reduce LDL bad cholesterol while preserving the HDL good cholesterol. Early studies in humans and animals report that whole almonds may lower total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein (LDL/”bad” cholesterol), and raise high-density lipoprotein (HDL/”good” cholesterol”). Almonds are also an integral part of low sodium heart healthy diet. So People who suffer from heart problems can lower their bad cholesterol (LDL) and maintain the level of good cholesterol (HDL) through the daily consumption of almonds.

Studies have shown that, adults (18 years and older) use 84 to 100 grams of whole sweet almonds daily by mouth with no reported side effects to treat high cholesterol.

Almonds are also considered an aphrodisiac. It is believed that almonds can help boost the sex drive. The kernel of Indian almond was not only shown to have aphrodisiac activity, it is also useful in the treatment of some forms of sexual inadequacies (premature ejaculation). In Sicily, it is also used to make sweet liqueur and even almond-flavored wines, bought thought to be an aphrodisiac. In some cultures, people believe that using almond oil on the male genital organs can strengthen the nerves.

But some people believe that, as an aphrodisiac, the effects of almonds are actually from surrounds the aroma of the almond more than the ingestion of it as food. And they believe that the almond essentially does not directly work on male genital organs, but a female aphrodisiac, because almond aroma is alleged to excite women, the aroma of the almond aphrodisiac evokes passion in females. Anyway, this is a myth that holds no clinical proof, so feel free to try it if you want a romantic treat.
