Sutherlandia (Cancer bush, Sutherlandia frutescens) is used by Africans in the treatment of eye care, hemorrhoids, rheumatism, cuts, wounds, burns, and inflammatory skin conditions. It is reported that an estimated 100,000 people are using sutherlandia on a regular daily basis in South Africa alone.

Sutherlandia contains a wide range of molecules, including L-Canavanine which is known from lab study to be effective against viruses, bacteria and fungi.

Sutherlandia is used traditionally as a decoction for the washing of wounds, eye troubles, and other bacterial inflammatory skin infections. The traditional procedure of making extracts is to boil the leaves, or other parts of the sutherlandia plant, to make a decoction.

Please note sutherlandia is not a replacement for conventional medicines but an additional help. If you have severe inflammatory conditions, you should visit your doctor.
