Turmeric is used in India for centuries for facial and skin care. Ayurveda believes that turmeric can help skin glowing, clear acne, blemishes, psoriasis, blackheads, impurities and eczema. Turmeric is a warming herb, and it stimulates blood flow of the skin, thus can slow down the aging process of the skin and fight the formation of wrinkles.

Turmeric can be used as a facial mask by combined with milk, almond oil, coconut oil, honey, gram flour or oatmeal flour. The following are two facial mask recipes.

Recipe 1 for dry skin

– Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
– Milk (or almond oil, or coconut oil, or honey) 1-2 tablespoons
– Mix them well to make a paste
– Apply it to your face, keep your eye area clear
– Leave it on for 20 minutes
– Wash if off with cold water
– Apply a moisturizer

Recipe 2 for oily skin

– Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
– Gram flour (or oatmeal flour, or wheat flour) 2 tablespoons
– Water 1/4-1/2 cup
– Mix them well to make a paste
– Apply it to your face, keep your eye area clear
– Leave it on for 20 minutes
– Wash if off with warm water
– Apply a moisturizer

Before applying a facial mask, you should clean your face with fresh water (and non aggressive soap if necessary). When finished, pat your skin dry with a clean towel.
