Lingzhi Mussel Soup is a recipe used in Chinese food therapy. It is said to help treat acute and chronic bronchitis, the chronic bronchitis in the elderly, bronchial asthma, leukopenia, coronary heart disease, hyperlipidemia, arrhythmia, neurasthenia and early-stage cirrhosis.

According to traditional Chinese medicine and food guidelines, freshwater mussel has sweet and salty tastes, and it affects liver and kidneys. It has cooling, detoxifying, moistening and vision improving properties, thus it is used to reduce internal heat and fever, calm irritability, relieve thirst, etc.

Lingzhi (Reishi, 灵芝, Ganoderma lucidum) in traditional Chinese medicine, has calming and cooling properties. It affects heart, lungs, liver and kidneys.

Recipe:

– Lingzhi (Ganoderma lucidum) 20g
– Mussel (without shells) 250g
– Rock sugar 60g
– Water 2 cups

Directions:

– Add lingzhi, mussels and water in a pot
– Bring to a boil, then simmer for 30-60 minutes
– Add rock sugar, and simmer for 5 more minutes
– Eat this soup once every 2-3 days
