Myrrh is a well known natural remedies which can be used for skin care and dental care.

Myrrh is a traditional medicine which has been used for thousands of years. As of 2008, there is still 35% of Saudi Arabians using myrrh as medicine. In Chinese traditional medicine, Myrrh and frankincense are the key component of treatment for impact injury, bone fracture, bone pain, arthritis, wounds, and bleeding.

Myrrh can be used in skin care. Myrrh is a soothing aromatherapy oil having astringent properties, which are excellent for various skin conditions. It was used by the Arabs to treat skin conditions such as wrinkles and cracked skin. Myrrh is particularly helpful in toning and soothing mature skin. It is used as a fixative in cosmetics. It helps treat Athlete’s foot, eczema and wounds. Myrrh is currently used in some liniments and healing salves that may be applied to abrasions and other minor skin ailments.

Myrrh can be also used in dental care. It is used as an antiseptic in mouthwashes, gargles, and toothpastes for prevention and treatment of gum disease. It is also used as an analgesic for toothaches. Myrrh is applied directly to the mouth for soreness and swelling, inflamed gums (gingivitis), loose teeth, canker sores, and chapped lips.

Please note: While Myrrh is safe to use in proper dosage and suits most people, it could still have some side effects to some people. If you are pregnant, breast feeding, having diabetes, heart conditions or fever, uterine bleeding, you need to avoid use of myrrh.
