Cilantro (Coriander, Chinese parsley) is an annual herb in the family Apiaceae. Cilantro is used as a spice and herbal medicine for stimulating digestion, relieving gas pains, vomiting and hangover, reducing bad breathe and treating urinary disorders.

 

The fresh leaves of cilantro are used as an ingredient in many recipes of South Asian, China, Mexico, Peru and other countries. The fresh leaves are often added to salads and dishes in raw immediately before serving, because heat destroys its flavor. The leaves also lose their aroma when dried or frozen.

Coriander has cooling properties and a pungent odor. It has the medicinal benefits in helping to soothe digestion and control infection. As an aid to the digestive system, coriander is an appetite stimulant, aiding in the secretion of gastric juices. The fresh leaves are also used to relieve relieve hangover symptoms.

Cilantro is a traditional treatment for urinary disorders, such as cystitis and urethritis with hot burning symptoms, due to its cooling, cleansing and diuretic effects.

How to use cilantro

1. You can simply eat it as salads, or add it to your dishes.

- Cut a handful of fresh cilantro in pieces
- Add it to salads, soups or dishes before serving

2. You can also use coriander seeds to make a decoction.

- Take 2 teaspoons of coriander seeds
- Boil and simmer them in a cup of water for 20 minutes
- Strain
- Drink it, once or twice a day

Indian Diuretic Formula: Coriander and Cumin Decoction

- Coriander seeds 1 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
- Water 1 cup
- Boil and simmer them for 20 minutes
- Strain
- Drink it, twice a day
- This remedy is used for treating urinary disorders

To reduce bad breathe, you can chew some fresh leaves. The aroma overcomes odor in breathe.
