How to make hawthorn lotus leaf tea:

– Dried hawthorn fruit 25g
– Dried lotus leaf 10g (or fresh leaf 50g)
– Put them in a pot with 2 cups of water
– Bring to a boil, and simmer for 15 minutes
– Strain out
– Add 2 cups of water to the strained herbs
– Bring to a boil again, and simmer for 20 minutes
– Strain out
– Mix the two extracts
– Drink the decoction as a tea, twice a day

This remedy is said to lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels. According to traditional Chinese medicine, both hawthorn and lotus leaf have effects to dissolve blood clots, and lower the uprising liver fire. That may be why the tea can help relieve high blood pressure.
