Chamomile, or Matricaria recutita, German chamomile, Roman chamomile, is a flowering plant in the daisy family. Chamomile can be used as an anti-inflammatory agent, germ-killer and painkiller for pain and swelling (inflammation).

Chamomile can be used as a mouthwash against oral mucositis, treat and prevent mouth sores and mouth ulcers.

Chamomile is also used for the conditions of the nose, ear, gum, and throat. Chamomile can reduce gum inflammation (gingivitis), relieve sore throat, treat sinus pain (sinusitis) and ear inflammation.

You can drink chamomile tea to relieve the symptoms, and use chamomile tea as a mouth rinse to treat the conditions. Or you can make mouthwash or oral rinse with 10 – drops of German chamomile essential oil in 100 mL water, use 2 times per day.
