Ayurvedic Medicine - Ayurvedic medicine, or Ayurveda, is a system of traditional medicine native to India. Ayurveda was recorded more than 5,000 years ago in Sanskrit. Ayurveda is grounded in the physics of the five elements and three doshas. Ayurveda uses a variety of products and techniques to cleanse the body to maintain or restore the balance of the body, mind, and spirit. Many Ayurvedic herbs have been tested with promising results. For examples, studies suggest that turmeric and its derivative curcumin are antioxidants. More than 90 percent of Indian population use some form of Ayurvedic treatment. Many western people employ Ayurveda such as massage, meditation, or cleansing therapies.
